Presented as a Knowledge Exchange, the Forum is focused on providing an opportunity for information sharing, practical support and peer connections. The 2017 Forum will highlight recent changes and new advancements in Ontario’s growing social economy, showcase the social enterprise activities of rural organizations, and explore how a rural network approach can further support place-based development and help address the challenges faced by rural enterprises and innovators.
The theme of this year’s Rural Forum is Connecting Communities – exploring how to support strong local networks that leverage the power of rural collaborative alliances to grow and strengthen rural economies.
The Rural Collaborative Forum will bring together interested stakeholders and practitioners from across rural central Ontario for vibrant dialogue and interactive sessions surrounding the growth of Ontario’s social economy and relate it to opportunities to develop rural social enterprise.
SERA Community Ventures has also recently completed a year-long research study entitled “A Collaborative Approach to Understanding and Informing a Rural Alliance for Social Enterprise Development” and will be presenting the findings at the Rural Collaborative Forum.
